Self Defense for Outdoor Women

Studies show that time in the outdoors is essential for good physical and mental health. Learn classic, self defense skills and techniques to help you feel safe and confident in every outdoor situation. This class will focus on the ABCs of personal safety including being aware of your surroundings, recognizing & reducing risks, and techniques to make your travels worry-free and enjoyable. Mind-set, hand getaways, ground self defense and verbal self defense included.


About Wendi Barker: 

Wendi Barker has been studying the martial arts for 21 years. She is a fifth-degree black belt in Uechi-ryu karate and has run her own karate school on Whidbey Island for the past 14 years.  


About Chelsey Schultz: 

Chelsey Schultz has been practicing Uechi-Ryu Karate she was 14-years-old. She is a third-degree black belt and has studied a variety of disciplines while living in Asia.  Chelsey is a travel writer and published her first book,  'Inspired: The Stories of Nine Solo Female Travelers' last year.
