Our Venue

North Cascades Institute -- On the Shores of Lake Diablo

About North Cascade Environmental Learning Center

1940 Diablo Dam Rd, Rockport, WA 98283

We’ll spend the weekend basking in the scenic beauty of the North Cascade Environmental Learning Center, a sustainable venue located in the North Cascades National Park. Tucked between the shores of Lake Diablo and Sourdough Mountain, this forested land is a treasure trove for adventurers that want to build new skills, explore their passions and make new friends.

Named a "Top Three Spots in the North Cascades" by The Seattle Times and "Top Ten Great Getaways" by ParentMap Magazine, the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center is a hub of discovery in one of the wildest, most biologically diverse landscapes in North America. This award-winning residential campus is operated by North Cascades Institute in partnership with the National Park Service and the City of Seattle.

The tree-sheltered campus features earth-friendly design and 16 buildings including:

  • Three lodge buildings with comfortable accommodations
  • A lakeside dining hall
  • An amphitheater, outdoor learning shelters and trails leading into the surrounding wildlands
  • A dock on Diablo Lake for paddling adventures
  • ADA-accessible facilities and pathways
  • Multimedia classrooms, a research library and aquatic and terrestrial labs
  • And more

Comfortable and Cozy Accommodations

During your stay at Kulapalooza, you will sleep in one of three lodges. Each contains seven dormitory style rooms that will allow you to build new friendships from the time you check in. Bedrooms include wireless Internet, writing desks and built-in wardrobes. Two lodges have a lounge area with sofas, chairs, fireplace and a limited kitchenette — perfect for relaxing and late night conversations. Linens (pillow, sheets, blanket and towels) are supplied.

No smoking, vaping, alcohol or marijuana are permitted on the campus.
