Finding Your Way with map & compass Navigation

Learn to use your map and compass to confidently make your way in the wilderness. Join Cascade Mountain Adventure's lead guide Teresa Hagerty to learn essential skills that every hiker and backpacker should know about finding their way in the wilderness including:

  • Read a  topographic map
  • Plan routes
  • Take bearings
  • Find true north
  • Pinpoint your location through triangulation
  • Navigate by following a bearing
  • Avoid common outdoor hazards and follow a trail

These essential skills are the difference between lost and found in the backcountry.
